About us

Community Info Coop helps communities build and shape media institutions to meet their needs through policy, organizing, and practice.

Community Info Coop launched in 2017 to respond to the local news and civic crisis in the United States with the launch of Info Districts, a public utility funding model for civic news and information.

By 2020, our programs expanded to include The Jersey Bee, a local news lab, and Just Transition, a research and organizing initiative. In 2026, we launched services for businesses and institutions through our Community Information Systems program.
